Well, again it's been a couple of months since my last post, my apologies...

I was cleared to work by myself as a paramedic about three weeks ago now. It's been going pretty well so far.

I went to "Progressive Chanukah Party" last week and I met this nice redheaded Jewish girl, and you all know my weakness for redheads! Anyway we're scheduled to have a date tomorrow, I'll let you know how it went.

My computer was gone for a while a month or so ago. I'll never again buy a Hewlett Packard or a Compaq! Not only have I had two of their computers have Identical hardware failures, but this last time when I tried to get it fixed I found out how terribly horrible their customer service is... even when I got someone who spoke English properly, they still couldn't communicate properly with either me or their co-workers... long story short after SIX WEEKS I finally got my computer back with the hard drive erased... I had told them not to do that since I could not perform a backup due to the AC power pin being broken off.

Well, I found out that I passed my protocols test yesterday. I will be precepting under Paramedic Jon Damon. In other news, I went to my fraternity brother's stag party the other night. I hadn't seen Greg and the other guys in years, but they all pretty much look the same... except for Vinnie Mure, he lost a ton of weight and looks great! I didn't even recognize him, and when I figured out who he was I was too embarassed to admit my mistake!

The latest poll here in CT shows Kerry only ahead by 7%, with the 3% margin of error that only a nose, especially considering the lead was over 20% some weeks ago. I feel like I should be doing more for the campaign, especially since I fear for my and the country's safety if the senator from MA is elected. But with davening Kaddish for my father daily and now getting started precepting as a medic, I'm not sure how much I can do.

I did put together the website for getting EMS for Bush apparel and stuff- I even put in an order and am expecting delivery soon. Feel free to visit, the link's at your left.

The dog's resting comfortably. I'm going to make some breakfast.

I must've played this song six or seven times tonight. I'm supposed to be avoiding music, but I really wanted to listen to a little...

Total eclipse of the heart
MUSIC: Jim Steinman - LYRICS: Jim Steinman

Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you're never coming round
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit tired of listening to the sound of my tears
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit nervous that the best of all the years have gone by
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit terrified and then I see the look in your eyes
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and then I fall apart

Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit restless and I dream of something wild
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit helpless and I'm lying like a child in your arms
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit angry and I know I've got to get out and cry
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit terrified but then I see the look in your eyes
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and then I fall apart

And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you only hold me tight
We'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right
Cause we'll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time
I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
I really need you tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight

Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I'm only falling apart
There's nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there's only love in the dark
Nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the heart

INSTRUMENTAL

Turnaround bright eyes
Turnaround bright eyes
Turnaround, Every now and then I know you'll never be the boy you always wanted to be
Turnaround, Every now then I know you'll always be the only boy who wanted me the way that I am
Turnaround, Every now and then I know there's no one in the universe as magical and wonderous as you
Turnaround, Every now and then I know there's nothing any better and there's nothing that I just wouldn't do
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and then I fall apart

And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you'll only hold me tight
We'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right
Cause we'll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time
I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
I really need you tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight

Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I'm only falling apart
Nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there's only love in the dark
Nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the heart

Wow, it's actually been seven months since I last posted here. It's hard to believe. A lot has happened. The biggest thing, I suppose is that my Dad, Harry Friedman, died Thirty-two days ago today on July 12, 2004. I know the exact number of days because we buried him on the fourteenth and Orthodox Judaism requires mourners to abstain from certain things for the first thirty days after the burial.

The other big thing is that I graduated Paramedic class. I was only one of three in my class who got through both ends of the National Registry exam on my first try. There was some paperwork holdup at CT's Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) that held up my CT license until July. I was all set to take my local Protocols test when my Dad died... I've got it rescheduled to take tomorrow afternoon. Wish me luck!

Being that it is the political season, I was trying to find gear to show my support for the president's re-election. While I could find Bush gear for Firefighters, Cops, and Military; I was unable to find anything for those of us in EMS! I decided to solve the problem myself by creating a site on Cafeshops... Here's the URL: http://www.cafeshops.com/ems4bushcheney

Hmmm... I suppose I could also mention here that with having to go to the synagogue daily to recite Kaddish, I've gotten a little more spiritual and in touch with my religous side. Don't know where that'll lead...

I suppose that's about all for now. C'ya l8r

I hosted a dinner and movie for Jewish Singles on Saturday night. We had eight people, 4 guys and 4 girls. Things went really well. We had dinner at Adam's Mill then we saw Something's Gotta Give. It's a pretty good flick! I plan to help put these on on a monthly basis.

Well yesterday was kinda' weird... I was scheduled to work with a new girl and in the course of conversation it came out that she didn't have her Connecticut certification yet... and she had never hid this from management. But this day she went to Don for help and he couldn't find her number online so he told her she couldn't work the road until she got it. She started crying, poor girl. Hopefully everything will be straightened out soon.

Anyway, after she left the dispatchers couldn't find me a partner- but Metro -our wheelchair van division- was desperate for a driver, so I did that all day... pretty easy really. No lifting, no runforms, no assessments... well I can't help doing them anymore really, but all the transports were basically okay, really. Especially nice that I got paid more than all those guy while doing it too! Conley was razzing me about it when I pointed all this out and he shut up quick! lol!

Class to day was interesting... It was our first day with Mike Moran as our main instuctor- we started off with two tests to see where exactly we're at and what we need to work on. So far so good but April sure is looming!

I visited one of the girls I met at the Matzoh Ball while she was at work today. She said she was busy and she wouldn't accept the chocolates I had brought (Munson's even!)... when I asked her if I could call her later, she said no... so I pretty much figure that she's not interested... funny she seemed the most interested while at the dance. And after I telephoned the first time she took the effort to find one of my ads on one of the jewish singles websites and write to me. Oh well...

Nothing else of consequence to report today.

Well, spent the day at Glastonbury Ambulance today... did a couple of calls nothing to exciting. Gotta go back to class tomorrow it was a nice two weeks off!

2004-01-03

Well just spent my shift today up in East Windsor covering the town for them while they were all at the funeral for Windsor Locks' Fire Chief. We didn't do a darn thing all day... very boring.

Happy New Year! Well I had to buy a new laptop since my old one pretty much died... hopefully I can get someone to recover some of my files off the hard drive. This new 'puter works really well, it uses Windows XP. I never realized how lousy Windows ME was...

I'm into the second week of vacation from my Paramedic class... and I haven't done a darn thing that's useful in the whole time... I've pretty much been sitting around uselessly. Oh well.. It feels good anyway.

For New Years I took my nephew Jesse and his girlfriend Yonina to Hartford's First Night celebration. It was pretty fun, but I think we should've gone earlier then the ~8pm we did arrive for. There was a lot of stuff that went on that afternoon that we missed out on. The stuff we did see was cool enough though. I was dissapointed that so many of the downtown merchants weren't open. I mean you've got all these out-of-towners in the city! The shops that were open were doing a very brisk business... mostly restaurants- as to why Dunkin Donuts was open but Starbucks was closed I wouldn't know. The fireworks at the end of the night were great.

On Christmas Eve I went to the Matzo Ball, a dance for Jewish singles... I met a few young ladies I'm interested in and who seem interested in me... we'll see how things develop...

I actually got to take an ambulance transfer to New York for the first time on Monday. We took a lady who had had a stroke while visiting from Poland to JFK to take a plane home. I was dissapointed though, because the transfer was scheduled late enough in the day that we couldn't stop and get a bit of kosher food while we were down there! Oh well...
